Vito is 30 months old.
I was pretty busy the other day that I didn’t have time to think of activities related to road vehicles. So I made the boys create their own landscape of a road with vehicles on it.
In a tray I placed the following:
- on the road vehicles
- lollipop sticks
- nugget gems
- trees
- homemade brown and grey playdough
I gave each boy a tray so they can work in there rather than on the floor. This gives them the “feel” of having their own design space as well, a sense of ownership.
Look who finished right away! As simple as putting cars and trees in the brown playdough, Vito’s capable of understanding where you can see trucks and cars.
He loves those lollipop sticks! He played with this over and over for about half an hour while I cook and do the dishes in the kitchen. The good thing of having an older son playing with 2.5yrs old toddler is that you can instruct them to keep an eye on their little sibling/s.
And this is what Mavi made. it took him awhile to finish his work, he wanted it to look good.
Aside from exploring road vehicles, this activity allowed the boys to put their creativity into action. Vito is getting there, designing something out of his bristle toys and Duplo and after creating something he would proudly show us his work!
I highly recommend this kind of invitation to play. No sweat at all, just whipping anything that you may find and let the kids do the work!
