Vito is 30 months old.
Both of my boys were looking forward to this Transportation Unit as they love cars, trains and airplanes. We started off by introducing Vito the water vehicles using Safari Toob In the Water figures, a little water sensory tub and matching activity.
I printed this control sheet straight from the Safari Toob website for our matching activity. I would call out the names of each figure and Vito would follow along with me. For him, everything is a boat, except for the cruise ship that he can identify.
He finished around 7 figures then he started to play with the figures on his own. That was a sign though that he’s tired of the work or uninterested.
And because he just wanted to play with the figures rather than match each one of them in the control sheet, I made an instant water sensory tub for him to play. I washed our water beads from here, and dyed it in blue (food colouring) and then dump all the water vehicles into it.
Now he played with this for a long period! I keep mentioning that our vehicles would only work in water. I added sifter and a scoop so he can do some scooping and pouring activity for fine motor skills.
Vito loves matching, but he loves playing with water the most! It was a perfect activity to introduce water vehicles to Vito.
Why don’t you try it as well!
