Vito is 31 months old.
Still part of our study of the bodies of water, we tried the rain cloud experiment at home and it was a total hit!
I tried to avoid messy play these days because the weather is making me lazy, but Mavi assured me that he’ll help tidying up so I agreed that we try this. We also used the Crazy Soap Foam Bath for kids instead of shaving cream because the boys doesn’t like strong scents. For the watercolour, I just used watercolour in a tube and mixed it with water.
I have to give them separate jars to work on. They usually fight if they get to share one item LOL. So for parents with multiple kids, it is best to have two or multiples of everything! You can use a tiny scoop but the best result comes from a dropper or pipette.
Here, Mavi prefers using the pipette.
Mavi was fascinated right away! He loves the sight of the colours “pouring down like rain” in the clouds.
While doing this activity, explain to the child that this is what happens when it rains. Water accumulates in the clouds, and once it gets heavy and full, it comes down as rain! Simple as that!
As expected, my toddler is more interested in pouring colours and playing with the foam. If this happen to your kids, that’s just fine! Let them explore the materials on their own, making sure they don’t “drink” the water in the jar LOL. He was still in awe with the “rain” but his focus is more on the foam and how it feels on his hand.
