Vito is 32 months old.
I prepared a few simple activities for our Sound and Music Unit. It was the week of heatwave so I grabbed the opportunity to bring the boys outside more often to practise their biking and scooting skills, and as for me, able to run and lose a few pounds LOL.
Joking aside, this musical hand bells was a favourite of Vito. He loves using just to listen to the sound it makes and at times ringing the bells together to make “music”.
For this activity, the boys and I used he book Sounds All Around. This is such a beautiful book about sounds by humans, animals and instruments.
Just look at that face! Our house is sounding like a church in the morning with beautiful sounds!
Instead of felt notes, I made each bell a card for matching and of course of labelling each one with the note they represent.
He liked experimenting combinations! Here he’s using the F and G bells, ringing them alternately.
The musical hand bells are great materials for learning sounds. Though I’d like to teach the kids piano or organ, but our home couldn’t accommodate these instruments as of the moment. So to start with, we’re just having the bells. Mavi is interested with guitar so we’ll see if we can have one when he’s a bit older. But I think for Vito’s age, they’re more into materials that can be easily manipulated like these bells. They’re pretty affordable too!
