My boys love animal covers! We used this whenever we want to play around with or beautiful animals from Schleich or whenever Mavi wants to replicate them through drawing.
I gave the cards to Vito last week so we can play with matching game. I gave him a few cards at first but then he kept asking for more! The alligator’s skin was quite a challenge for him. This is matching game on a different level as you’re not matching the animals to it’s “replica” but to its cover. There are some covers that are pretty “obvious” like the cow and peacock. But the giraffe, cheetah and tiger, they’re quite confusing for a small child, so he must have an eye for details. Initially, they might match it due to the colors, but eventually realized that the covers have patterns! Like for example, Vito places the the tiger figure on the a cheetah’s cover, but he realized that though they have same colour, the pattern in the cover is circular not stripes. So he looked for another cover with the same color but this time with striped patterns.
Afterwhich, he looked for our Safari Toob Wild animals and matched the figures as well. He’s said “Mom, big and small.” And I was like “Oh yes, it’s the Mommy and the baby”.
He loved the idea of Mommy and baby! In fact, he played with these for awhile, letting the animals sleep on their bed covers and wake them up to eat and play.
My next plan would be to create these covers in paintings or drawings. For more information about the animal covers material, click here.
