We are seeing a lot of pumpkins and though we may not be able to visit a pumpkin patch, we brought home a couple of pumpkins for exploration. I would like to share this very beautiful layered puzzle that I purchased in Amazon. It’s the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin, beautifully crafted and illustrated. There’s a guide for each layer on the left side so the child will know what comes next.
Here’s what the stages looks like. Vito is seen working on the second layer (the first layer being the background). This is a guided work and I explained what happens or the changes that occurs as we complete a stage/layer.
If you notice, I also created this presentation (available here and here), to show him what “cycle” is.
And right now, we used the definition cards to compare the images for each stage. Once he’s older, we’ll read together for reinforcement and work on the activity sheets.
I honestly love my cards! They go so well with the puzzle!
As Halloween approaches, we’ll dissect any of these pumpkins and explore the parts. I’ll let the boys decorate these too, and let’s see what will they come up!
