Montessori Parts of a Flower
We have a set of 3-part cards, a booklet, and a Montessori puzzle to teach about the different parts of a flower. We also have activity sheets, book recommendations, and actual flowers as specimens. Initially, I will only introduce a few parts of the 12-part cards to Vito and add more as we go along depending on his progress.
Here is a sneak peek of our flower 3-part cards. These cards are quite large, around 5 x 4 inches, and come with green borders. The different parts of the flower are highlighted in red, making it easy for young children to identify and distinguish them from the rest. Mavi loves these new sets of cards because they are big, clear, and visually appealing.
Montessori Parts of a Tree
We will be using 3 part cards, a booklet, and a Montessori tree puzzle to explore different types of flowers. I plan to reserve this lesson for late spring or early summer when trees are in full bloom. If it’s not possible to travel during the summer, we will also examine different types of bark. Like Mavi's activities, Vito's activities will be hands-on, and I hope for good weather so we can do more of this outdoors.
In addition, I have Montessori-inspired parts of plant nomenclature cards and a definition booklet. We don’t have a puzzle for this, so I will make a poor man's version of the puzzle out of felt sheets or cardstock. I introduced the parts of a plant to Mavi first, and we will see if I can do this with Vito as well. Please note that the order of introduction for these activities will depend on Ireland's weather.

Montessori Parts of a Leaf
The Leaf unit can be scheduled for late summer or early autumn, while Mavi can join us during summer as he will surely enjoy it. Additionally, we plan to conduct a colored stem/flower experiment to showcase the role of veins. Please take a closer look at our learning material on the parts of a leaf.
Lastly, we have the Montessori Inspired Parts of a Bean Seed Nomenclature Cards and Definition Booklet. However, I doubt that we will have time to use it since Vito will start Montessori school in September 2017. Perhaps we could use it when he is a bit older and able to appreciate it.
