We started the week with pumpkin poking. I was about to throw this already but realized that I have jumbo pins for Vito to use with it. I gotta tell you that this was a huge hit for both Mavi and Vito! Both loves poking the pumpkin but sadly I only have a few pins. So after a round of pin poking, Vito would remove them and place them back again. I love the concentration! He’s trying to put back the pins in the hole marked by the previous poking.
Just look at that hand! Arm and hand muscles are in the works!
We then moved on to sorting our Transport Counters using our sorting bowls. He enjoyed shooting the counters to the sorting bowls, great practise for hand and eye coordination!
And this is how the work cycle ends. He gathered all the bowls and one by one poured the counters back into the container, stacked up the bowls and placed them back into the shelf.
This was the week that we also used our new puzzle called Pyramidix and Vito loves it! I wrote about this toy and how we used it at home. Read about it here.
Vito keeps choosing our Transport Counter last week. This time, instead of using sorting bowls, we used popsicle sticks for sorting. We lined them up and put the transport counters on it. Vito was really careful placing the cars, making sure that they all face in one direction and properly lined up. At a young age, he wanted his work to be perfect!
Tada! And he was so happy when he completed it! And positioned himself like this and said “Mom, I’m a tunnel”.
We also read tons of books, and I picked The Very Busy Spider for out storytelling since we can use our animals from Schleich. Will talk about this more soon.
We made music using musical handbells and danced with it too! Such a fun sensorial activity for little kids with some mix of gross motor skill and art!
And he found our magnetic board and found this figure of a man funny. He identified each part of the body as he matches the shapes.
And lastly, we started using ten frames for counting! I’m planning to have Vegetables or Fruits Unit soon so I made these ten frame cards (I didn’t cut them from the sheets). He enjoyed counting through the fruits and vegetables.
More of our fruit and vegetable unit next week!
