I guess by now you know that I am a HUGE fan of Beleduc, a toy company in Germany that produces beautiful educational materials for kids. The boys love our Beleduc puzzles and we always use them. You’ve seen us using our Body Puzzle and Pumpkin Life Cycle in the blog lately. And look what I discovered recently… it’s a wooden puzzle pyramid used for counting!
My puzzle loving boys loved it in an instant and wanted to solve it right away. Beleduc Pyramidix consists of 10 storey jigsaw puzzles. Each layer is a puzzle with the number of pieces equaling the level in the pyramid.
This is intended for 5 years old, but since Vito loves puzzles and counting, I made him use it right away. I gave him the top 5 layers first to try (1 to 5 puzzles). He has worked on it so well! Of course, the puzzles are getting more difficult as you work your way through the layers (6 to ten).
Here’s Vito working on the number 3 and 5. The number of the layer is also written at the bottom of the puzzle board for control of error and guide.
After working with all the five layers, he asked to continue working with the rest of the puzzles. So we did go through puzzles 6 to 10 but it was I who mostly did the work. Mavi did it on his own but a bit of a challenge as well which is quite good!
I say, that this puzzle pyramid is totally worth-it, especially if you have multiple kids to work on it. They are good in enhancing problem solving skills, hand eye coordination and of course, perfect as counting materials! This would be perfect for a Christmas present!
