I was quite surprised when Mavi finished this book in one day! It arrived on the mail last week, and when I opened it in front of him, he excitedly asked if he could bring it to school so he can read it during the break.
Danny Dingle is a book about two boys who are in a way explorers, love to do experiment and are inventive. It reminds me of a show I used to watch in Nickelodeon, about two brothers who make something out from random things. Anyway, I guess this is the reason why my 8 year old son was hooked and couldn’t put down the book. It’s funny, hilarious and my boy liked the jokes!
The book cover is lovely, and I love the blue colored edges! The comic-type graphics on each page is attractive especially to young readers and can add more engagement to the story. It’s interesting that the book also uses different types of text/fonts which is very appealing. For the minor flaw, I just find it a little odd that the parents are encouraging the boys to do some naughty stuff in the name of science.
As for my son, he really liked the book and asked if he can have another Danny Dingle. He was so engrossed with the book that he was able to finish it in one day.
All in all, it’s 8 out of 10.
