To start with, I presented Vito the four types of cards: numbers, tally fingers, dots, and the labels or name. Then we started with the number symbols. We arranged them from one to five (we only worked till five for now). Next, we moved to the tally fingers (Vito’s fave!), number dots, and finally the names.
I didn’t correct him knowing that he interchanged the five and four fingers. Excuse the sticky tape in his mouth, he’s undergoing that kind of habit again (mouthing objects).
When he was done, he reviewed his work counting the numbers and the symbols. Then he realized that the five finger was not in place. He corrected it and started to count again from the beginning.
Vito loves this activity. We didn’t tidy up the cards after his work because he tends to go back to it again and would count, mastering the tally fingers which he likes imitating.
And so, I’m sharing these cards with you for FREE!! Just click the link below to download the file. Enjoy!
