It brings me joy to recount the story of the nativity to our children. We have made it a yearly tradition to read various books of different versions, and sometimes we even watch nativity movies to fully grasp the meaning of Christmas. Now that Vito is old enough to comprehend, I incorporated story cards and activity sheets to accompany our book reading this year.
The cards are the kids' favorite. My eldest, Mavi, enjoys sequencing them based on the story's events.
My oldest child enjoys using the activity sheets, particularly for coloring. Here he is utilizing the fantastic Ferby pencils by Lyra, which are highly recommended for coloring materials!
Vito enjoys using this as a tool to learn vocabulary, identify characters, and match figures.
When I read stories to Vito, I sometimes ask him to sequence the cards as I read along. It's not always successful, but it's a great way to improve reading comprehension. I describe events, and Vito chooses the correct card to match. This is how we use these cards for our extension activities when learning about the birth of Christ this Christmas.
