We are starting with the first group of letters in the Jolly Phonics this month. The first set consists of letters S-A-T-P-I-N, and from here, we’ll be forming and reading words. Vito knows all his letter sounds, so we’ll focus more on reading (and learning new words). We will also do letter formation (and writing). Though we will not use the pink series (Introducing the Montessori Pink Series for Beginning Reading) for a while, we will still incorporate it if needed.
As shown above, that’s our ‘letter s’ work. I prepared the learning materials at night as invitation for Vito to work on for the next day. The setup is composed of:
- picture cards (depends on our focus letter)
- sandpaper letter as a guide for writing (Vito still uses this whenever he wants to review the stroke, How To Use the Montessori Sandpaper Letters)
- tracing or writing activity sheet
The picture cards are actually Alphabet Posters which you can get from my shop (the FULL version is not FREE but you can get the SAMPLER for FREE). The FULL version file is composed of 144 high quality images of objects and animals with beginning letters from A to Z. They are posters, which means that the default size is A4 paper. If you need it to be smaller, for example card size, just change your printer settings to “print to multiple pages” and it will adjust according to the "card" size you require. I printed ours using 8 pages per sheet. I added printing instructions in the file in case you need them. For more details, click here or the image below for the FULL version. For the FREE version click the next image.
Now, I’m giving a few of the letters s,a,t,p,n for FREE so you get to try these materials with your kids or students. Click here to get your FREE Beginning Letter Sound Posters and Cards (SAMPLER) or click the image below.
If you like the SAMPLER and want to get the entire pack, visit my Shop or click Beginning Letter Posters and Cards.
Enjoy!
