Apple Counting Activity

We’ve been working on apple-themed activities for the past few days, and I just have to include this fun counting activity.


Materials needed:

• playdough
• Apple Tree Counting Mats
• Do a Dot Markers

This activity aims to place the correct number of apples on the tree mats based on the number written on them.  We use playdough in this activity, but you can always use any available manipulatives.

Vito and I worked on making tiny dough balls first, which will serve as our “apples” for the trees.  It is a great activity for muscle hands and fine motor skills.


When we had enough, he started counting and placing the right number of “apples” in the tree.



Look how beautiful it turned out!  He enjoyed it so much that he asked me if he could do it again!


Alternatively, you can use the black-and-white version to save ink and use do-a-dot markers.  Note that the error in the picture below has been corrected, and the printable in the shop has been updated.
