We are learning about frogs and we started our unit by learning about the body parts because Vito wanted to know if they are similar to his (to humans). Again, our Parts of a Frog Learning (ZOOLOGY BUNDLE Pack) came in handy in exploring the body parts of a frog and the activity sheets I included in the pack were really helpful in extending the learning activity for enhancing the retention of concepts.
If you are a homeschooler or a teacher looking for learning materials about frogs, then continue reading this post to learn more about this learning material and the activities that we worked on. The cards are simple and clear and are easy for young learners to use. The activity sheets are provided as I have observed through the years that these materials for tracing, coloring, and making booklets are effective in engaging young learners.
Materials used in our Frog Study:
- Anatomy of the frog model
- Parts of a Frog 3 Part Cards and Activity Sheets
- Markers and crayons used during assembly of the booklet
Frog 3 Part Cards and Activity Sheets
This learning pack (click here) includes the following:
- parts of a frog in 3 part cards format
- definition cards which can be assembled into a booklet
- parts of a frog posters and activity sheets
- activity booklets for coloring, writing, and tracing
Frog 3 Part Cards
The parts of a frog in the cards are: frog, head, eyes, neck, trunk, feet, forelegs, hind legs and ears. Also included are definition cards for each body part that you can assemble/form into a booklet. After the 3 lesson period, the 3 part cards is used for matching and reading activities. Basically, a child will (1) match picture cards to the control cards and (2) match picture cards and labels then use control cards for control of error.
Vito loved to use it as a memory game too (the cards in the memory game are facing down in this type of activity).
Frog Activity Posters
Because of the growing needs of Vito, I added these posters so we can display them in the shelf for easier access and for more visual representation. I had some activity sheets similar to this with Mavi years ago, and he loves using them so I thought that they might also work with Vito and they did.Vito loves tracing the words here while saying the letter sounds and attempting to read the words. I love that the material is not only for writing but an opportunity to practice his letter sounds too!
Frog Coloring Booklet
As I mentioned earlier, kids love to color and make their own booklets! There's a sense of pride and achievement whenever they do this. My boys are always excited whenever we make booklets! And these booklets provide a lot of learning opportunities for hands-on learners:
- coloring
- writing
- pincer grasp
- cutting
Cut each sheet and pages, then assemble the booklet with your child. NOTE: IT IS THE ROLE OF THE ADULTS TO SUPERVISE THE ASSEMBLY OF THE BOOKLET. Always supervise the child whenever you are using scissors and staplers.
