We are about to conclude our INSECT UNIT which we have been working on for the past two weeks and I am so happy to finally share the lesson plan that I made for my Kindergarten. Now, though this is designed for my almost 6 year old boy, this unit study is also appropriate for kids from 5 years and older. We have done tons of identification and sensorial activities previously on this subject area and this year, we’re doing some advanced work.
If you are following me on Instagram, we went on a summer holiday in our home country in Asia and both boys had personal encounters with each of these insects. I posted some of those in my IG and they were totally ecstatic! Encountering these creepy crawlers on a daily basis gave them the opportunity to observe the animals and get to understand their “roles” in our environment. Anyhow, feel free to check the lessons I prepared, the book recommendations, the printables and the learning toys we used in our INSECT THEMED STUDY.

In the Philippines we didn't really do "bug" hunting as they are everywhere. But in some places it is highly recommended that you go out int he fields or forest and do some "bug" hunting activities so the kids can observe these creepy crawlers in their natural habitats.
It is August and that means back to school season is upon us once again. Thanks for this post, many great ideas for school activities.
