CVC Word Building Printables

Before the year ends, I would like to introduce a new series of literacy materials in our shop: Thematic CVC Word Building materials and activities that are perfect for centers and homeschool settings. This HANDS-ON CVC WORD BUILDING Activity Pack is one of the favorite activity from our MEGA UNITS. It is a hands-on activity for learning, reading and forming CVC words and promotes imaginary play.

WHAT IS A CVC WORD BUILDING SET SERIES?

It is a printable pack that contains printable activities that promotes hands-on learning on CVC word building and reading.  It is also a series as it will come in 50 themes, including seasonal and holidays.

TO WHOM IS IT FOR?

These materials are designed for preschoolers and kindergarten children.  But as I always say, kids learn in different paces, so it is generally designed for kids who are in the early stage of reading, the time when they are practicing their phonics and when they learn how to decode sounds formed in to a 3 letter word.

⭐️ Read.Build.Write. To practice reading the picture cards or word cards, build the words using letter cards or magnetic letters and practice writing the words.

⭐️ Spin and Write. To be able to identify CVC words with specific middle sounds.

⭐️Roll and Color. To practice identifying and reading the color coded CVC words.

⭐️ Copywork/Dictation/Spelling. Consist of wordlist for copywork, dictation or spelling activity

HELPFUL TIPS

• Introduce CVC words with similar middle sound first (ex: ham, ram, pan, man, dam)
• Use picture cards and match them to the label cards to associate the words to the pictures.
• Practice forming the words using the letters. Don’t give the 26 letters ALL AT ONCE. Give a few so it’s easier for the child to look for the CVC letters and form them.
• Use the Build Word Mats with same middle sound first.
• Once the child progresses, use the mixed middle sound Build Word Mats to challenge the child in CVC word building.
• BONUS Colored Mats are added in the pack. You can use these mats to add more color and engagement into your activity. 
• Alternatively, you are free to use magnetic letters or Montessori moveable letters if available.
