We are starting to use discovery baskets and I am so excited to share with our collection. Since I'm homeschooling these days due to the lockdown, these baskets have been really helpful in entertaining Max while I homeschool Vito. But aside, for this reason, having discovery baskets has so many benefits for the child. Below, I'm sharing some of the baskets I put-up for Max, and why we love discovery baskets!
Discovery Baskets or Treasure Baskets is a basket or a box that you fill with objects that your babies (those that can sit-up) can explore. Discovery baskets can entertain babies for a long period of time. Be sure that you are always there to supervise, but don't interfere. Babies will explore the objects using their senses: tasting, touching, smelling, hearing and looking therefore it is important that the objects are stimulating and enticing!
Max is currently teething, so he's mouthing everything I put in the basket. So to prepare the baskets, I made sure that I (1) sanitize the objects every day, (2) inspect for loose parts (small objects) that can be a choking hazard, and (3) remove objects with sharp edges.
