Max is really enjoying "posting" activities, so the popular materials for this period include object permanence and imbucare boxes. Activities in which he's not really interested at the moment are ring and object stacking.
- Imbucare Box Large Cylinder. This is the first of the many boxes in the imbucare series. Max mastered this right away, and we will be moving on to other shapes in the coming months.
- Miniland Baby Boy Doll. Max was terrified of the doll at first but eventually get the hand of it. I used this to introduce body parts.
- Ring Stacker. This was a gift from Montessori Mary. Max loved this at first, but since his ring stacking skills are not yet good, he easily gets frustrated and moves on to other materials once he can't put the rings on the dowel.
- Grimm's Bus. Max plays with this occasionally but is not yet a favourite.
- DIY Shakers/Sound Jars. This was a hit! I half-filled our unused spice jars with random items like rice, mung beans, beads and shells for Max to explore.
- Animal Figures. My husband introduced these animals to Max, so I just have to add them to the shelf because Max started playing with them regularly.
- Object Permanence Box with Drawer and Coin Box. Max loved these drawer boxes, but he doesn't understand the idea of closing the drawers first before dropping the ball and coins. Anyway, the coin box is a big hit, and Max loves this. Took him a few weeks to master this material.
- Object Imbucare Box Sliding Lid. This is the last material in the object permanence box series. The sliding of the lid side to side is still a challenge to Max, so he doesn't use this material that much.
- Pompom Drop. A favourite!! He loved this activity and this stayed in our shelf for weeks! But I needed to replace this with something else for more challenge.
- Brio Hammering Toy. Another favourite, Max can't stop using this toy. I got mine from Germany, but you can purchase a similar toy from here. This is a great material for hand-eye coordination and hand muscles.
- Dog Pull Along. Another gift, but Max doesn't use this as a pull-along toy for now.
- Plan Toys Nesting Cylinders and Boxes. Max has mastered nesting the smallest two boxes and cylinders. I love these toys. They are great for building concentration and hand-eye coordination.
