Montessorish work of Max at 19 months.
He's rounding off all the items we have int he shelf EVERY MORNING thus he tends to master the activities in no time (this means frequent material rotation). Anyway, feel free to bookmark this page if you find this inspiring and your reference.
Arts and Crafts
We are going all out in the painting department. We'll be doing more painting in the coming months exploring different mediums.
Materials: Dot Marker, Giotto White Paint and Micrador Toddler Paintbrush
Sensory Bin
I gave in to the sensory bin and I'm so glad I did! This always kept Max engaged and enjoys doing scooping (both with hands and spoon) and pouring beans to containers. Aside from all these acquired fine motor skills, he also learned lots of new words like pour, scoop, little, more, slowly... etc.
Puzzles and Sorting Activities
As I mentioned in my Instagram account, Max absolutely loves puzzles. He picks this sort of play every day and by the end of the week he would master the puzzle. Glad I have tons of puzzles to give him at home for a weekly challenge!
For this month's puzzle, it's 2D shapes. He's not familiar with their names yet but can easily match and solve the puzzles in a minute.
Materials: Guidecraft Sorting Shapes and Melissa & Dough 2D Puzzles
Stacking Activity
He currently enjoys playing this Quercetti FantaColor Stacking blocks. It's a great toy, sturdy and jumbo in size perfect for toddlers.
Montessori Inspired Toys
We are loving this Cylinder Drop toy from TapinToys on Etsy. It's perfect for visual discrimination, familiarizing in different cylinder sizes.
Other activities this month:
- Montessori Lock Box. He loves it but can't figure it out what to do with it yet
- Montessori Coloured Discs on 3 Dowels. I use this to introduce the colors red, yellow and blue.
- Ring Slide. Cause and effect play from TapinToys on Etsy
- Montessori Puzzle Shape
- Montessori 3 Circles Puzzle
- Posting sticks in a cannister
