Presenting our Deciduous Forest Food Web and Food Chains Learning resource. This packet is part of our Food Web Biome Bundle Pack. The bundle contains 10 sets of food web activities in the 10 biomes around the world, namely: Arctic, boreal forest, deciduous forest, desert, mountain, ocean, pond, rainforest, savanna and tundra. This post gives you a glimpse of our Deciduous packet.
INTRODUCTION USING MONTESSORI 3-5 PART CARDS
This Montessori-inspired 5 part card introduces the child to what a food web, food chains are and describes the role of each organism in the food web.
BUILD YOUR OWN ACTIVITY
I provided printable cards, arrows, descriptions and labels so the child can recreate the diagrams and can add more details. The animal cards are in real images, clipart and in blackline version, just print the one that suits your need. The arrows will show the energy transfer, and the child can use the other labels to identify the animals based on their diet and the role they play in the food web.
Hands-on activities are the best learning experiences! Your child will enjoy creating food chains and recreating the food webs using link chains. Alternatively, you can use pipe cleaners or glue the picture cards on cardstock and connect them with arrows!
Information Summary Cards and Research Papers
Furthermore, I also added these information cards summarizing the role of each animal in the food web. For older kids, instead of using the information cards, can use the research papers to investigate the Deciduous Food Web and fill up the information on their own. Note, my son, filling up these research papers!
Also included (my favourite set) are 32 task cards that provide questions based on the food web and chain diagrams. It requires thinking to analyze the diagram
